End of an era...

On 20 February Freo VC had its Annual General Meeting where the departure of our longstanding President Kevin Gravestock was confirmed. After 4 years of services as President, Kev has decided to step down to focus on his coaching and more importantly to free up some time to plan his upcoming wedding. His commitment and dedication to Freo has seen the club expand significantly with:
  • additional WAVL and WAVLJ teams;
  • partnerships with local schools MLC, Scotch and Iona;
  • securing Melville Leisurefit as home courts and to run an ongoing Social Competition; and
  • delivery of Junior Volley and Kids Volley programs.
All of this was done through a difficult time with Covid-19 restrictions and increased expectations from VWA, Schools, players and the community. Freo VC would not be where it is today without his involvement and on behalf of the committee and wider Freo volleyball community we thank you for all you have done for the club.

But don't worry, Kev will still be around as head coach for the Mens SLR team and to give some sub-par sets playing for the Mens Div 1 team.

In his place, we welcome incoming President Matthew Andrews. Matt has been at the club since 2018 (the club was formed in 2017) as a player and has been heavily involved in the committee since 2020. With coaching successes in 2021 and 2022 and successful event coordination of various pub crawls, camps, opening nights and home rounds, Matt is well placed to take over Presidential responsibilities. He is supported by previous Vice President Brent Gauci and new co/Vice President Nic Moody. The full list of new committee members and the AGM minutes are
